Throughout the years of cinema, people have been introduced to some of the most amazing and iconic animated movies. Whether it be drama, comedy or adventure, these films never failed to capture the hearts of the audience. For that, they’ve forever cemented themselves in cinematic history.

However, these films wouldn’t be possible without a talented group of individuals or what’s called an ‘animation studio’. These people are responsible for making their imagination come to life and put it on the big screen for the audience to see and enjoy.

Here at AIC Studios, we specialize in animations as well and we look up to these companies to stay inspired and motivated.

To focus the spotlight on these wonderful animation studios, we have compiled some of our favourites and their best works down below:

Nickelodeon

Ever since the mid-’90s, one of the animation studios that quickly rose to prominence was Nickelodeon. The company itself was founded in 1977 but it wasn’t until 1995 when it took on a life of its own. With titles such as Rugrats, Hey Arnold!, CatDog and so many more, people quickly fell in love with the studio.

After they ran in the ‘90s, they’ve continued their success in the following years and until today they’re one of the best animation studios in the industry. Nickelodeon has been attached with so many iconic movies and tv-shows such as Rugrats, Avatar: The Last Airbender and probably most famously, Spongebob Squarepants.

DreamWorks

Being founded in 1994, DreamWorks Animation was under a lot of pressure because it was the time when Disney and Pixar were dominating the market for animation films. It also didn’t help that their first movie, Antz was released two months before Pixar’s A Bug’s Life which quickly drew comparisons.

However, throughout its career, DreamWorks became a mainstay and a household name in the industry thanks to its hit movies such as Shrek and Kung Fu Panda. They’re also responsible for the beloved How to Train Your Dragon franchise which features an amazing story partnered with the studio’s signature animation.

Studio Ghibli

Heading over to Japan, it’s no secret that the country’s best animation studio is Studio Ghibli. You don’t even have to look hard to prove why they’re the best as their animated movie, Spirited Away was the highest-grossing film in the country for over 19 years. It’s also one of the only studios in the country that successfully made their works well known overseas.

Ever since their first movie back in 1986, they’ve been releasing hits after hits with titles such as My Neighbour Totoro, Howls Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke and more.

Pixar

Pixar is probably the animation studio that produced some of the best-animated films over the last generation. What makes them special is their ability to produce beautifully animated movies that tackle important topics such as friendship, family, love, etc.

Their movies never fail to captivate their audiences because of how loveable their characters are and how realistic they act. Some of the studio’s best work includes the Toy Story series, Finding Nemo, Monster’s inc. and so many more.

Most people see animations in films, videos, and advertisements and it’s eye-catching and fun to watch. There are a lot of people at work behind the scenes when it comes to animations and it’s a process that’s not well-known to most people.

If you like watching Disney or Pixar films, as well as classic Studio Ghibli pictures, it will be amazing for you to know more about how animations work and how they are made. Animators put a lot of effort into their craft and the result is all the iconic films people love all over the world.

AIC Studios is a production studio that specializes in special effects of all kinds. From animation to 2D to stereoscopic 3D conversion, we create visual effects that are unique and pleasing to the eyes. If you want to learn more about animations, here are the different types you should know about.

Stop motion animation

This form of animation is the closest akin to conventional, hand-drawn work, and it is still employed in modern films and television. It is quite difficult to execute because it requires a lot of time invested to do it properly.

To achieve stop-motion animation, puppets or figurines are used. Basically, the animator takes photos of the puppets in the set. After each photo, the puppets are moved to different poses and positions depending on what is desired for the scene. Each photo is considered a frame and once these are put together into a sequence, they create movement which is the animation itself.

Stop motion was used to produce popular films like Coraline, Wallace and Gromit, and The Moomins.

2D animation

2D is the kind that most people know. As the name implies, it deals with only two dimensions: length and width. It doesn’t have to consider depth as an element so it’s a beginner-friendly type of animation. It’s a good way to practice the basics of animation before trying out more complex styles.

It allows you to focus on the basics of animation and practice those skills before moving on to more complicated projects. 2D animation is an older style and is one of the most popular ones. Lots of animators still prefer doing 2D because of how simple and basic they are.

An example of how 2D animation is still prevalent in today’s media is anime. More uses of this type of animation include web design and graphic design.

3D animation

3D is another animation style that is popular in most films and TV shows today. It’s gotten so advanced that many animations today look hyper-realistic. Compared to 2D, there are a lot more aspects and details to render so it can be harder to learn for beginners. However, there are many courses being offered out there that teach the basics of 3D animation.

Some examples of 3D animation are iconic films like Frozen, Up, and Big Hero 6. These are the different types of animation that you should know. Each one has its own difficulty and presents a style that is unique and has an appeal of its own. AIC Studios specializes in many kinds of animation that are visually intriguing and amazing to look at.

AIC Studios: The importance of visual effects in film

In the world of film, professionals want to do everything they can to work hard and make sure that their project is a success. From the moment that the process begins to the time that the film is released, there’s a lot of work to be done.

One of the important aspects of filmmaking is visual effects. This is particularly essential for movies that have supernatural or action-packed elements. If you ever find yourself watching a superhero movie or an action movie that involves flying cars and superpowers, then you’re looking at the magic of visual effects.

We value visual effects and all things creative here at AIC Studios, which is why we have a visual effects team that can spruce up your film and make it even better. If you are looking for that extra push that will level-up your movie, then you can count on us to help you. Rest assured that our visual effects will give your project that extra something that it needs.

One of the reasons why visual effects are so important in filmmaking is because they can provide that extra wow factor. While it’s completely normal for you to focus on the storyline and the characters, you need to consider visual effects and what they can do for your movie.

For example, you can’t make a movie about a superhero and not use visual effects to give them powers. The film and your characters will just look awkward while trying to attempt things themselves. Visual effects will give that wow factor and make everything better.

Another reason why visual effects are important is that they can generate buzz for your project. A trailer is an important part of the production process. It will be released to the public and it’s an essential tool to get them hooked. Visual effects will generate buzz and incline more people to watch.

Visual effects are also important because they can improve the post-production process. The key to good filmmaking is consistency, so you want to make sure that everything is going perfectly after filming. Adding visual effects will allow you to look back on the scenes and check everything again, that way you can be sure that you didn’t miss anything or make mistakes.

Lastly, visual effects are important because they can tie the whole story together and make it more interesting. While visual effects aren’t necessary to make a movie, it’s still a huge plus. Some people leave the cinema and talk about how beautiful the visuals were.

Are you looking to add some visual effects to your movie? Come on over to AIC Studios and let’s get to work on completing that film. Use the opportunity to spruce things up and reach the maximum potential of your film! For inquiries and reservations, you may send us a message on our website or via email at [email protected].

Also known as Arctic Dogs and Polar Squad, Arctic Justice is a fun computer-animated film that is perfect for just about anyone to see. Faithful to its title, the movie is set in the icy plains of the north pole. Arctic Justice was theatrically released on November 1, 2019 by Entertainment Studios.

The film grossed $9.9 million in the box office and had its DVD and Blu-ray released on February 4, 2020 under Lionsgate Home Entertainment. In 2020, Arctic Justice was nominated for Best Editing in Animation for the Canadian Cinema Editors Awards.

It also features a star-studded cast with Jeremy Renner and Heidi Klum as the film’s leads. James Franco and Alec Baldwin are also part of Arctic Justice’s voice cast. Learn more about this enlightening film and see if you will put it on your to-watch list with your family and friends!

Synopsis

Arctic Justice uses animal characters, a common ongoing theme with animated movies of the modern industry. Set in the North Pole, the movie introduces the audience to Swifty, an arctic fox that works in the mailroom of the Arctic Blast Delivery Service, a local courier company.

However, he does not want to continue working in his current position because he wants to become a courier. Instead of the humdrum business of sorting the mail, Swifty wants to brave the outdoors like the rest of the couriers in the company.

There is just one small problem that is hindering his dreams. The company’s couriers are muscular huskies who can pull heavy carts of packages and Swifty is a tiny fox whose physique does now quite fit the courier job.

Swifty is a positive and steadfast character who has his eyes fixed on the goal so as a way of showing his bosses that he can get the job done, Swifty steals one of the company’s delivery sleds and uses it to deliver a package.

The receiver of this package is a mysterious walrus, Otto Von Walrus. Swifty realized Otto’s evil plans so he can take over the Arctic and rule over every single one of the residents. It is now in Swifty’s hands to round up the gang and set on an adventure to stop Otto and bring justice to the Arctic.

Voice Cast

Arctic Justice has a star-studded crew, with Jeremy Renner as the main lead for the film. Other popular actors who lent their voices for the movie are Anjelica Huston and John Cleese. Here are the main voice cast of Arctic Justice:

Jeremy Renner (Swifty the arctic fox)

Known for playing Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Jeremy Renner plays Swifty in this animated film. Renner mostly plays hardened characters in mainstream action films so it will be interesting to see him play a slight-framed but strong-willed fox who tries to save, basically the world. Arctic Justice was Renner’s movie project following Avengers: Endgame.

Alec Baldwin (PB the polar bear)

Alec Baldwin plays PB, Swifty’s best friend. The 62-year-old American actor is one of the most popular Hollywood personalities. His early work in Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice (1988) is one of his memorable characters before the 2000s, along with his performance as Jack Ryan in the Hunt for Red October (1990). With his long history in the entertainment industry, Baldwin has been nominated for the Academy Awards, as well as the Tony Awards.

Heidi Klum (Jade the red fox)

Heidi Klum was a German-American model before she entered the acting business. She was also the first German Victoria’s Secret Angel. Her modeling career catapulted her to become a TV personality, as she went on to become a television producer and host. Klum’s first movie is 54 where she played an unnamed VIP Patron.

John Cleese (Doc Otto Van Walrus the walrus)

John Cleese is an English actor and is one of the members and co-founder of Monty Python. He plays the villain in Arctic Justice. The 81-year-old is also one of the writers of the sitcom Fawlty Towers where he also played a character named Basil Fawlty. His performance as Basil is critically acclaimed, with the character earning a rank on Channel 4’s list of 100 Greatest TV Characters.

Anjelica Huston (Magda the caribou)

Anjelica Huston is Magda, Swifty’s boss. Huston is an Academy-Award winning actress whose debut film is A Walk with Love and Death (1969). Like Klum, she also worked as a model first before working as an actress. Hudson also played Morticia Addams in The Addams Family films. Aside from acting, she is also a director, producer, and an author.

James Franco (Lemmy the albatross)

James Franco plays Lemmy who is a forgetful albatross in the movie. Franco is a 42-year-old actor who has worked with Seth Rogen throughout his acting career. He also played Harry Osborn in the 2000s’ Spiderman film series. Franco’s amazing performance in the film 127 Hours (2010) also earned him an Academy Award for Best Actor nomination.

Omar Sy (Leopold the otter)

Sy plays Leopold, an otter who has a lot of conspiracy theories in the film. The 43-year-old French actor has appeared in blockbuster films like X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) and Jurassic World (2015). He was also in Lupin (2021), one of Netflix’s newest shows.

Film Production

Entertainment Studios Motion Pictures distributed Arctic Justice in the USA. In fact, the film was the company’s first-ever venture into animated films. Here are the other distributors of the film for different regions:

  • Axinite Digicinema (2020, Philippines – theatrical)
  • CJ Entertainment (2019, South Korea – theatrical)
  • Cinemanse (2020, Finland – theatrical)
  • Shaw Organisation (2019, Singapore – theatrical)
  • Signature Entertainment (2019, UK – theatrical)
  • Volga (2019, Russia – theatrical)
  • Falcon Films (2018, Lebanon – all media)
  • Film Medya (2017, Turkey – all media)

AIC Studios is the one who developed the 3D CGI Animation for Arctic Justice, as well as the special effects for the film.

Film Crew

Arctic Justice is directed by Aaron Woodley. Before the film, Woodly worked on another animated film in 2016, titled Spark. He was the movie’s writer and editor, aside from his voice work for the character Floyd in the film as well. Arctic Justice was written by the following:

  • Matt Lyon
  • Bob Barlen
  • Cal Brunker
  • Aaron Woodley
  • Bryan Thompson

A collaborative work by animation artists, the art direction of this film is headed by Branislav Perkovic. Here are some of the people who worked in the film’s Art and Visual Effects Department as well:

  • Scott Caple – location designer
  • Ian Cherry – head of story
  • Dejanovic Dalibor – visual development
  • Dei Gaztelumendi – visual development artist

Why You Should See Arctic Justice

Arctic Justice promises a fun adventure in the North Pole with engaging characters and interesting plot. The star-studded voice cast is also another reason why this underrated film is worth your time. The use of animal characters in animated films is not a new thing in the film industry, with the likes of Zootopia and Pets becoming blockbuster hits.

Arctic Justice uses the similar elements, with a hero that is driven by his dreams. Jeremy Renner’s tough voice acting paired with Swifty’s thin form is also entertaining to see, not to mention Alec Baldwin’s take on a shy but gigantic polar bear. There are a lot of films made by more-known animation studios like Pixar and DreamWorks that take the spotlight all the time. With Arctic Justice, it’s refreshing to watch an animated film that is a product of another company as AIC Studios puts a new spin to the film’s animations.
